My girls inspire a lot of things I create. They are loud, confident and naturally creative. They also have beautiful ‘Neneh Cherry’ style hair that I tried to recreate with corkscrew perms (not one of my best looks but it was the 90s!)
These prints and paintings feature bright colours, afros and lots of stickers (my house is full of them) and are influenced by India Airie’s song I am not my hair’. I wanted them to be able to recognise their beauty in these images and to know they are so much more than their hair.
My dream for them and everyone, everywhere is to learn to love yourself, to follow your bliss and to simply be authentically, uniquely, unapologetically you.
